and here is a dmesg report after reinstalling 290.10 from x-swat, only one instance of my hdmi devices and I activated my sound.conf file.

I am hoping this may be fixed in 3.3rc3 I see this in the changelog

"ALSA: HDA: Fix duplicated output to more than one codec"

I will try tonight.

...tested v295.40 on kernel 3.0.28: no change, im still stuck to NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-256.53

We believe we have found a fix for this issue; it's pending review.

and if it isn't, can you let us know when this fix made it into a downloadable driver? i'm _really_ happy that this issue has not been forgotten (and so is my system. can't wait to enjoy all the fancy new packages...)
