Default Weird refresh rate problem

Driver Version: 185.18.36
O/S: Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit
Video Card: GTX 275
Configuration: TwinView
Monitor 1: Dell3007WFPHC @ 2560x1600
Monitor 2: SyncMaster P2370 @ 1920x1080

I think my question is simple, but how do I force the refresh rate of my LCD monitor to be 60hz in Linux?

[NVIDIA X-Server Settings] Right now the SyncMaster is showing the proper Refresh Rate of 60.00Hz, however the DELL3007WFPHC is showing 59.86Hz. What this is doing is causing some pretty slow and terribly distracting tearing on the primary display (DELL3007WFPHC). I think the problem could be worked around if I set it to Separate X Sessions, but I like being able to move windows between the two.

Since I can't find anything saying that the monitor should not be at 60 Hz refresh, is there a way to override and set it up? When I change it to 60 Hz under "X Server Display Configuration", it still shows as 59.86

I'd be willing to pull the other one down to 59.86, or at the very least sync to the 59.86 and let the other have tearing.

Another 'Problem', which may be the cause, is that the SyncMaster is showing up as CRT-0 insetad of DFP-0 and doesn't have any options even though it's connected with a DVI cable.

The CRT instead of DFP issue was solved by switching DVI cables (weird), but still having the refresh rate / tearing issue : (

While not ideal, I was able to get the refresh rate to use the main monitor by switching DVI ports. If anyone has further info on how to sync them up, that would great! Right now the other monitor has a tear that bleeds up the screen due to the close / but not same / refresh rate.

As far as I knew, they should both be 60 : (

I'm having a similar but wierd problem.
Single monitor w/ evga classified gtx 560 ti 448 core
older computer

Ever since I upgraded from the geoforce 8800 gts 512 a few days ago, I've been noticing that the screen is slightly wavy...text shifts just a few pixels left and right.

Switching ports on the card doesn't seem to help.

nvidia-settings reports a 59.86 refresh rate
kde reports a 60hz refresh rate

I'm guessing the difference between the two is somehow the fault.

Note that I also have a DELL3007WFPHC monitor (or very close model approx to it, 30" lcd purchased in 2007 ish time frame).

The shifting starts right away on computer boot up..it is very subtle..but enough to produce a headache when looking at text for a long time....

any ideas?
