The shots look great... and yea it looks like its either concept art and/or megatexture (alot of texture work, not so much post processing effects). It could also be from pretty much any game. that said if doom, hell on earth looked like this, I wouldn't be disappointed. I think they would need to reinvision some of the enemies though.

Seriously if anyone actually thinks those screen shots (if they are) look bad... just gtfo. There are high rated games released today on pc that do much worse.

Its way too bright for a doom game, doesnt look like exactly like Rage and that is a big turnoff... and remember theese screens arent official or anything it might be just old concept art or whatever.

Doesn't look too promising.
Their track record for the last 10 years has been Doom 3, Quake 4, Quake Wars, Rage. ID needs to stop building a new engine every time they want to make a new game and they really need to speed up their development process. The games become graphically irrelevant by the time they hit the market and the gameplay is the shame sh*t, different year. Sometimes I feel they're sitting with the mullet, jean jackets and coin op arcade machines, stuck in a time years ago and unable to adapt to the future.

I wasn't one of the Rage bashers. I thought it was pretty good actually. I'm so glad I don't listen to game critics or I wouldn't be playing anything. They can bash, I'll just play. Doom 4? Hell yeah, I'm gonna get it.

The shots look good to me, very RAGE like but definitely better and the change in setting is noticeable. I agree with you that this is obviously what they wanted Hell on Earth to be, but couldn't come close to because of limitations. Hell, they couldn't even make it seem like earth really I still have a soft spot for that old surreal atmosphere, and anything else just doesn't seem like doom. That's where I'm coming from when I say it's too much like Doom3, I guess any modern interpretation of Doom will be, I had just hoped they may go for something more like SS3. But I guess that wouldn't be very id like.My other gripe with these screens is the setting in time. It looks very much modern day. What happened to the futuristic setting? Has this got something to do with the rumored movie re-do?

this just goes to show that games mostly look very similar these days. There has been no major in improvement in graphics quality for years.
