Default Re: No GTX680 until Q2 2012

I would really like to get around 1035-50 one each card, that's when they seem to equal a 7970...talk about getting your moneys worth. I cant wait only a couple more days

Also I think the XF OCing issues has something to do with disabling ULPS, I'm trying to figure out what powertune does, Ive never used it before.

Yeah, I'll have to look into that.

Once Swiftech comes out with their new blocks I'm ordering two of them so I can overclock.

Have you tried OCing on air ? they should do pretty good. I wont be adding aftermarket cooling...that's why I'm interested.

They'll OC on air just fine. Got mine to 1000 on the core without needing any voltage bump at all.

I just don't generally like OC'ng GPUs unless I'm on water. Guess I had too many of them die on me in the past and am squeemish about it (most of them were Nvidia, though.)

Finally the time has coming!

The thread title "No GTX680 until Q2 2012" is wrong.

Are you ready?

Nvidia will finally unveil GTX 680 and probably reviews next week on 12 March 2012 with hard launch on 23 March 2012.

GTX 680 will be 10 inch long, 705MHz core clock, 1536 stream processors, 1411MHz shader clock, 6GHz memory, 256bit memory bus and 192GB memory bandwidth. The experimental PCIe power stacked may not make it to final production cards.

I knew they had to be getting close now. All of our retailers down here have slashed the prices on all 5 series cards

I to have heard that the first card released won't be high end. Has this been confirmed though

Kyle from [H] says it is 680,

http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=...6&postcount=51

and this,

Quote:
Seeing some benchmarks show 7970 in the lead, mostly in tessellated situations there, other "normal" synthetic 3D benchmarks and gaming benchmarks show 680 faster. Driver advancements still happening as well for 680.
If it's actually $400 (with a die size below Tahiti and only 256-bit memory bus that seems quite possible) this will surely shake things up! That would mean 7970 coming down $150 and everything else following by around $100-50 or so.

He also said he wont switch from his 7970's... So it can't be that good.

Wow what a way to break NDA from someone who heads one of the largest hardware site.

Would you switch to a card that is slightly better at times and slightly worse at others? I doubt anyone would. If what he says about the 7970 being better at tessellation is true then that's where frame rates matter much more so in that regard the 7970 is probably still the better overall performer.

I'm not sure, but he isn't saying anything specific, just general statements. That sort of thing must be allowed. If not, he could be in trouble.
