The
HPC User Forum announced thatDr. Roger Hunter will keynote their next meeting in Richmond, Virginia. As NASA's Kepler Mission Manager, Hunter oversees the search for habitable planets.
Since my last update, the Kepler teamannounced the discovery of 11 new planetary systems with 26 more planets. These discoveries nearly double the number of verified Kepler planets and triple the number of stars known to have more than one planet that transits. The team alsoannounced Kepler had found two new circumbinary planets. The discovery of the Kepler-34 and Kepler-35 systems establishes that double-star worlds are not uncommon. This brings Kepler's confirmed planet count to 61.
Registration is now open for the event, which will take place
April 16-18, 2012. The
agenda also featuressessions on data-intensive computing, parallel programming environments, performance modeling, the Missing Middle, and disruptive technologies that may reshape the HPC market.
