I've a single 7950 in my AMD rig and I love the card.

I'm just running 1100|1575 from the CCC.

Lee, the motherboard in my sig has 8x PCI-e on the 3rd slot. I bought it to run a 3rd 570 with. I'm not sure if it's Ivy Bridge compatible, though. I saw one newegg reviewer say it was but haven't confirmed anything yet.

Thanks, is it a good board ? I really need to split these cards up. I'm at 1100/1575 and the fans are just to loud at the moment. Am I missing something ? I thought you had 7950 XF ????

It's been a little finicky so far, but I have it running good now. To start with, the BIOS was outdated (1202) and didn't support the 2700k. But copying the ROM to a USB was easy with the EZ Flash utility inside the BIOS.. worked great.

Had some problems getting the USB 3.0 to recognize my wireless adapter. Broke out the USB cable included with my adapter and it works now. Just can't plug straight into it.

I had 7950 XFire but decided to get out due to a lot of issues I began having with my games, Skyrim in particular. Skyrim is taking up most of my time right now and XFire stutters like crazy on it.

Hope you have better luck with yours. I have three 570s now.

Yeah...they make good hardware but absolute crap drivers, I'm almost done with them myself.

Here is my opinion regarding 7xxx series CrossFire-

I think it isn't that people are having "so much trouble", I think they're tired of being early adopters. I can't recall of a single GPU launch that wasn't plagued with one problem or another in dual card configurations.

Think about it- if you drop over $1k for a top-end multi-GPU setup, and in the games you play the most there are persistant issues, that'd be frustrating. It's one of the big reasons why I don't do multi-card setups with new architectures. I'd sooner pickup a second or third 5870 than I would run multiple 7xxx series cards in CrossFire. Why? Driver maturity.

My 5870 is freakin' awesome. Sure, performance wise it can't hold a candle to a dual 7900 CrossFire (that performs as it's supposed to) or dual GTX5xx SLi setup, but it works and provides the performance I want with the stability I desire. It's also about two years old now.

I'm very interested in the 7800s. I'd like to snag a 7870 and pass this 5870 on down to somebody else like my little sister or maybe one of my best friend's sons. But with the current condition of AMD's drivers I'll likely not get a 7800 on launch. I'm likely going to wait a couple releases before I purchase. In that time the drivers will have matured offering even greater performance and stability, inventory will have evened out and prices settled. nVidia will have something from the Kepler family out by then, driving prices even lower (or so I hope). Just doesn't make sense to be an early adopter unless you understand the risks.

I know it sucks, but realistically there's no better feedback than when you first launch your product- the sheer number of different hardware configurations and potential problems that arise... you can't get that level of QA testing in any lab. That's why the first months after launch are typically rough.

Anyhow, that's my two cents worth.

I never said that.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet money that nVidia has driver issues with the GTX680 as well.

That being said, it seems the driver issues are mostly present, or more easily noticed, in dual card solutions. My friend recently bought a 7770 (against my recommendation due to its price, but he's happy with it and I suppose that's all that matters

) and it is running great- he isn't having any sorts of issues with it.

I'd imagine people whom purchase a single 680 likely wont have as many problems as those whom purchase two or three for SLi.

It was not directed at you.

It was about keeping posts in the correct thread. Not about telling the truth. I don't understand why you are having such difficulty grasping this concept. You can gripe about drivers, just use the driver thread. Not a thread about a card that hasn't even been released yet. (i.e. the 7800 series)

This is common practice on every other forum online. Maybe you should go out and explore some time.

When's the last time you used AMD drivers or hardware? I just want people to know how much stock they can put in the "truth" you claim to speak.
