they did the same thing with the 7970 with the power phases. It just simply isn't needed.

Well, glad I have my 7970's now.
http://nl.hardware.info/reviews/2641...ns-vs-predator Looks like 680 SLi is pretty slow/broken. Only time crossfire loses is when it's not supported. |

Great card, first NV card I've liked in ages. Still not sold because of the 2GB memory, it's just too much like 1GB was a few years back when I was forced to buy my 5870 after my 4870x2 died. I always try to keep ahead of what current games demand with vmemory, and I'm feeling it now because my last purchase I didn't have a choice. If I had it my way I would have held out on buying until the 6970 and then held out again until the gen after this one.. but no, that damn unreliable 4870x2 had to die after 14 months.

680 is a mixed bag. I read through a few reviews and it seems like most of the time it's a little faster..and at a cheaper price it's a good card.....but it's not a game changer. I want cards that are 400 bucks for top end. (amd and nV)

its faster, cooler, quieter, and cheaper than amd's top card in most applications. that makes it a winner even tho its not 50% faster

Talk about gouging, A Inno3D 680 GTX can be had in Hong Kong for HK $4580 = US$587 = way over the MSRP of $500
Deffo a no thanks...

Awesome card but im still not sold yet...Performance is great and when it comes down to it it is the best single GPU on the market....And slightly cheaper than 7970 too. However as slawter said. i cant help but feel that this release is mid range with added features to surpass that of the competition. Im not sure if thats because the rumoured GK110 i have read about isnt far off or because of the restrictive 2GB of mem and 256 bit mem bus in high resolution surround gaming if i do decide to go multi monitor. Bottom line is the performance increase in all games from my GTX285 to GTX680 would be A LOT and i would gain DX11 but am i going to regret getting one if gk100 comes out around 3/4 and is 15-25% faster ?
