Word is that apple is considering (read: haven't done yet) releasing a tool to remove flashback. However this is after the trojan has existed for six months. In addition to this, apple ignored the first security firm that reported this to them, and as if that wasn't bad enough, they took steps to try to prevent that firm from probing the activities of this botnet.
This is proof positive that Apple is THE ABSOLUTE WORST OEM when it comes to security. Not by just a little, but by a LOT. In fact not only are they not doing anything about it, they are actively making the situation worse.

Yeah I heard about that a few days ago. Not really news though since nobody uses macs anyways.

yeah, because it was build and mantained by a smart individual. 99% of mac users don't have a clue what they are doing, and worst thing is that they all think that their macs are immune to all security issues.
noob that thinks is safe(mac user) is worse then a noob that knobs that there are security issues(windows user).

+ 1 to the above.
The worst part is that the general public actually think macs are safe without having to have a second thought on the matter. Then on top of that the situation is made even worse by Apple trying to maintain this image at all costs... They actually think that if they don't admit that there is/could be a problem that there never will be? Well, they're being proven wrong now, at the cost of their customers security and privacy.

Top that off with Apple refusing to admit there is a problem, as Rakeesh :
: mentioned above. I wonder how long before Apple gets hit with the anti trust law suits and iLife, iTunes and Safari can no longer be bundled with a Mac. Wont just work then... |
