They do have Windows Live Essentials, but they can't legally bundle it in the OS.

All joking aside, I will agree with the fact that if anyone, regardless of OS preference, thinks they are safe from viruses/malware/etc, they are dead wrong. Hope that the Windows/Nix users around here don't think that they are safe . . .

I really hope that Apple will step their game up. Tim Cook and company has a chance to change this.

I think that the OS X problem is similar to UAC issues with Windows. Mac users are so conditioned to plop in their UN/PW so often that it defeats the purpose of elevating rights in the first place. We see the same thing with Windows.

Linux is safe because of small market share along with having the most anal users on the planet. For people who actually want to get work done and have applications work, OS X and Windows users, security is not the number one focus.

Oh they certainly can be infected. But like you said it will never be mainstream enough to make it a priority. Also, most people that run linux understand how their OS works, which makes them their own AV lol.
