Not only that but I'm just guessing Blizzard probably owns a couple of servers...

For the beta test they likely used a small number to see what kinds of load their servers can handle, and what to do to optimize them. Now that they have the data they can copy/paste that setup to 10 or 20x the amount of capacity and scale as needed.

Yeah but I don't know about you but I don't want to wait 1-3 months to be able to play a single player game or just coop smoothly. Thats how long it took Blizzard to iron out all the wait times and server problems when WOW launched and Diablo 3's launch is going to be bigger then that...

Nobody expected the success that was WoW. The biggest mmo of the time had ~500k subs.

Um Everquest had those numbers during its peak... you mean WoW had over 1 million subs active at a single time. Also Diablo 3 will outsell WoW by a LARGE degree, you forget that many people don't want to play an MMO...

Diablo 3 is a bigger deal then WoW.

What I said was, when WoW launched the biggest mmo had ~500k subs. They couldn't have anticipated the draw that the game would be. That's why they had so many issues at launch.

I don't forget anything. Hosting Diablo is nowhere near as difficult has hosting an mmo.

No and no.

Not only will Diablo 3 NOT outsell WoW, but it will never be a bigger deal.

WoW peaked at more subscribers than the Diablo series has ever sold. And that's people who keep paying after buying the initial game. It has easily sold over 20 million copies, and that's being conservative.

WoW is far and away the biggest deal Blizzard has ever, or will ever, have.

Diablo 3 will be massive, the game is awesome. All of the stuff that let Diablo II down has been fixed in my opinion such as potion spamming and how they are doing the skills set is far better and more flexible, you aren't locked in if you make poor decision allocated your skills at the start.

Whether or not Diablo III is bigger than WOW remains to be seen.

There is no "remains to be seen". World of Warcraft makes Blizzard more money in a year than Diablo 3 will ever make them. Now multiply that times the number of years it's been making that money and there is NO contest, it's not even remotely close.

I dunno about easily. SC2 has sold like 5 million copies, that's not exactly an easy number to reach for a PC game. Diablo 2 didn't even sell that many copies.

I think it might hit 5 million, if for no other reason than the WoW annual pass will inflate the numbers by a good bit. There are already a million people who will be getting D3 for free because of the promotion, and if they count those as sales it will be a lot easier to reach.
