This rumour stands well for a PC gamer for reasons Magus pointed out. Im wondering about how far off cross platform gaming is across a wide library of games. Will be interesting to see the next xbox specs too.

If this are the specs or close to what we can see from Sony next generation I bet cross platform play is going to be pretty common. Sony already has a history of offering developers an open network for their online titles and I can imagine they would want to push it even more since SOE makes PC games and console games already.

The backwards compatibility doesn't bother me too much, but not being able to play used games is just outright silly.

Huh? Even when PC games used to be $50, console games were only $10 more. And the hardware investment for a console is substantially less than a PC...

The only thing that will change is that people will have fewer games. I wonder what will happen to services like GameFly.

Well for example when I bought Uncharted 3, I got it for $60, and beat it in a week...traded it and got $30 back and used it to buy another game.

For a game that only lasts a week, not going to pay $60.

For PC games i noticed most drop prices much faster then consoles and and a lot more sales. I just checked gamestop and Uncharted 3 is still $60 and it what 6 months old? Not sure lost track of time..lol

Ok I see what you mean. Yea, I usually buy and keep multiplayer games, and rent single player games. If I can't find it anywhere, I wait until the price drops.

Yeah don't get me wrong I have spent $60 on PC games too..I mean I understand where Sony is coming from, I mean with PC Games you cannot rent or buy used games.

Unless MS does this with the next Xbox i think it will really hurt them in sales.

Maybe they will too and that is the direction of consoles?

No used games doesn't matter to me at all. No backwards compatibility sucks, though.

I don't really buy used games so yeah I don't care about that. I care about backwards compatibility even less.

Well I guess I know when I'll be cancelling my blockbuster account. right now I use netflix for movies and blockbuster (packaged with dish network) for games.

Granted I've bought most of my console games, they're all a year old or more GOTY editions with all the DLC at a lower price and the others have been rentals. So for me, I don't mind buying new but rarely buy new console games when they are at full price. I can get uncharted 1 and 2 dual pack for PS3 for $29, Gran tourismo 5 XL edition for $39 brand new, Halo anniversary for $29 new, etc...

With as many games as there are out these days to play, I'm not foreseeing myself sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting for a day 1 release of anything I'm going to pay full price for besides Diablo but certainly not anything for console with God of War 4 being the only real possibility.
