Quick update. Game performance is about the same as expected, but load times are much easier to deal with.

Nah, but it was an OS only drive. All my TV shows were on separate drives.

Just going to rebuild on a temp drive, then copy it to the replacement SSD once it comes back (replaced under warranty).

That's not so bad then. Maybe you could do what I did and ask for an Intel drive instead. It worked for me.

I have a feeling they'd replace it with a Vertex 3 (the failed drive was a Vertex 2).

The 2s had a pretty high failure rate iirc. Good luck with the 3 if you get one, 4 if they want to be awesome for once.
