I paid $90 for this 5870. For me to get the exact same value out of a new card I'm wanting twice the performance for no more than $180. I could accept nearing $200 including shipping and handling. It is the price delta between what I paid for this 5870 and what the 670 sells for that is deterring me. The performance is there, the price is not.

What if your card was free. Then you would have to wait for more free cards. O_O

nVIDIA need to stop horsing around and just show us the damn 685/GK110. They planned this to perfection.

680 release $500 MSRP. $500+ retail due to price inflation based on supply & demand.

Release 670 1344 @ $400 MSRP. $425+ retail due to the card being so close to the 680.

Release 685 23xx @ 500 MSRP. $xxx retail due to performance relative to the 7970 Ghz Edition.

Apparently Newegg didn't get the memo. They've been selling them for $399 from the getgo. Got an overclocked version.... for $399 on the way.

I'm quite certain the GTX670 would not feel like $309 performance increase, if that makes any sense.

When I shell out for a new card, I want it to be a night and day difference across the board- performance, temperature, power consumption... I want to see the upgrade in a big way. Hence why I'm not opposed to waiting for another year or so.

Not only that, I'm still extremely satisfied with my 5870's performance.

So... A card that is twice as fast, uses less power, and runs cooler than your 5870 isn't a big difference?

Not a $390 difference. Probably over $400 with shipping and tax.

If I gave you an F-350 with all the bells and whistles, but it was a couple years old, yet in mint condition- how long would it take you to purchase a new truck? Especially if the F-350 I gave you did everything you needed with ease? Would you be willing to shell out over $40k in a couple years for a new truck just because it got better gas mileage while producing more horse power and having greater torque?

I've a lot of better things to put that $400 towards right now. I'll get a new card soon enough. When I can get a card along the lines of the GTX670 for right around $200 I'll start considering it.

I'd sell the crappy truck and buy something I would want.
