Are you still facing this issue with 295.49 and 302.07 drivers?

UDPATE:
Problem remains unchanged with latest driver (295.49).
Also, the problematic GPU leads to the same behavior on an entirely different hardware base (Intel D53350-507 motherboard)

Hi Iesos,

Can you help me provide me the details on how to install/Run Starcraft game using wine.

I have been trying to install this game on Ubuntu system. But with Wine, I am getting errors. It seems I need to install DirectX SDK and for the .NET Framework.

If you have any step by step procedure, it will be help full for me to give a try.

Thanks!!

Still experiencing XID's, especially when trying to use SLI or GPGPU computing like Boinc. This is with 302.07.

Default Re: Random crashes, NVRM Xid messages

Tried this issue with 295.40 driver with wine installed and Starcraft II game.

Able to observe 1-3 secs lockup while playing the game. But could not observe permanent lockup with Xid messages.

Played the game for more than 2hours.

Wine version- 1.3.28

1. After how much hours of game play issue occur?
2. Any specific repro steps (game stage, game settings etc.,)

I've exactly the same problem as cdufour. X starts up just fine, Ubuntu Unity, XBMC, VDPAU playback everything works perfectly, until I restarted X...

X cannot restart, almost the same messages come out from dmesg, those Xid errors.

Tried a lot of options and all didn't work. Have to reboot machine. This is with 295.49 driver on GT520.

302 beta driver does not offer HDMI audio so it is out of reach.

If needed I can post my system and debug logs.

I concur with your analysis Sandipt. I can no longer cause a hard freeze in wine from XID errors although the system does freeze for up to ten seconds while passing the XID. Then again I have only tried a few hours of playing as well. This latest driver is absolutely more stable than previous versions, as when I use SLI in older drivers the XIDs and hard freezes are almost instant at boot.

Sandipt try using Primegrid in Boinc with multiple GPUs to really see the problem. Doing this never works longer than 24 hours before XID's, waits, and atomic's appear. Also, try enabling SLI while using Primegrid. These are XIDs I got while playing OilRush with SLI enabled last night:

Following up on my previous post: my system stayed up for almost two weeks without a hitch, until today where it Xid'd sometime in the afternoon and froze up later at night. Still a huge improvement, and I'll stick to it until people feel like a newer driver is more stable.

For reference: chopped back to 295.20, glibc 2.14.1, and took out my second monitor/disabled twinview.

I am able to play Starcraft II now using wine, after digging into forums.
I tried to reproduce this issue with my desktop.

With 295.40, Starcraft II is playing well without any crashes. I do observe screen lockups while playing the game. But it is for very minimal time (0.5 to 1sec).

Can any one in this forum thread provide with reproducible steps which is very consistant and reproduce much faster?

Hello again!

I just installed 295.53 nvidia-driver on my Gentoo machine, testing with 2 different kernels and running FlightGear flight simulator, reproducing system hangs with the following dmesg output and nvidia-bug-report logs:

Kernel 1 (3.2.1-gentoo-r2) produces the following errors on Dmesg:

Some more info:
* GNOME Desktop
* Flightgear is run on maximum detail, which gives approx. 100-160 fps on my machine. Hangups occur with no precceding fps drop.
* System hangups have also been noticed when I run Blender, during scene setup
* On RT kernel system hangups can last forever [Shutting down using POWER button]

Hi muadib25,

Could you please provide below details?

1. what is the settings you do while running flight simulator? (Can you mention exact settings?)
2. For how much time we need to play for getting a repro?
3. what is the flight simulator version you use?

Thanks.
