2nd hand Laptop wont go to microsoft
I got a 2nd hand laptop but it wont go to microsoft.com and for a while it wouldn't install updates like flash and other stuff. I've disabled the proxy settings that were there already.
Whats blocking it? Its quite specific since it wont even open the MS site.

maybe the hosts file is blocking the microsoft IP's

First thing I do when I get any laptop, new or used: Reformat.
Especially used ones...they're like a las vegas hooker: you never know where they've been and what they have. Fortunately unlike hookers, we have the ability to clean them out completely.

It was a primary school laptop so should be clean, I don't have any spare licenses so I'll just put 8 on it for now.

Since it was a school laptop maybe the sites that you can't access have been blocked by user accounts settings. I would check there, unless you are already logged in as the admin.
