That pretty much sums it up, Mullet. If I could, I'd be rocking three 30" monitors with tri-fire or quad sli and essentially a stupid-over kill system in every possible way simply because it'd be awesome.

But I can't.

So I make do with what I can afford, which is thankfully more than I really need.

Wouldn't we all m8, wouldn't we all......This is why the majority buy Fords and not Ferrari's.

You certainly won't be disappointed with the Dell U2412M, its a very good monitor for the price.

I think I will. Even though it's not up to Slawter's standards ( ) it's gonna' be a step up from what I was using, and what I am using. Though this little Dell I'm using now displays a pretty good image IMO, I just don't like the lack of screen real-estate. Figuring I'll wait till about this time next month before making the purchase. Now that I've got a solid monitor to focus on, I have time to do some research on the different kinds of IPS, the pros and cons of LED, etc. Pretty certain that's the monitor I'll get but like I said, waiting a month mostly so I don't have to dip into savings for this and I want to read professional and user reviews.

Maybe one of these days when I'm a mutli-trillionaire like Slawter I'll be able to afford all those nice things.

It's still a good screen, no doubt.

btw, the last screen I bought was a $99 22" TN monster - so much for my standards

Slawter, I hope you realize I'm just giving you crap. Gotta' lot of respect for ya', buddy.

I had a chance to check out the 27" I linked to earlier in person and I have to say that it most definitely deserves a look. The monitor itself looks a little fugly but the panel looked fantastic in store. Basically a cheap u2711. If you have a MC close by you should go take a look in person. For $400 it would probably be my top choice though I would also add a protection plan to it just to be safe

I dunno man... I'm pretty sold on that Dell. I do wish it were the 27" but my previous 24" monitor was big enough. I'm not sure how much I'd really appreciate the 3", ya' know?

Besides, I also need to be realistic- I don't have a lot of room. That 24" HP I had filled up my desk almost perfectly. 27" would fit, but it may be over kill not leaving room for anything else.

I'm sure that monitor you linked to is fine, but it costs $100 more, is a no-name brand. Sure it may produce a great image but will I start having issues with it a year or two down the road? I know Dell makes solid displays and honestly I value longevity over image quality and with that Dell I'd be getting both.

I do appreciate the input though, I am keeping all things in consideration still but have to admit I am strongly leaning towards the Dell.

I understand and I don't blame you; The one year warranty on it is pretty bad. You really can't got wrong with Dell tho, they make great displays. My 2405 is a solid seven years old and it still looks and runs like new. Hope you enjoy the one you go for

I picked up this monitor recently - ASUS VE258Q - 25 inch for $230 I think on sale.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236123

I upgraded from a Samsung 20 inch 5 year old monitor and it was like night and day difference.

The colors are so vivid, everytime I look at my screen I am in love...games just look awesome. I cannot believe I waited this long to get a bigger screen.

The biggest problem I ran into with shopping for monitors a lot of it is subjective and going based on other reviews, and problem is with so many monitors out there not like you can just go to a Best Buy and look to see how you like it. It took me a few weeks to decide it but glad I did and the price is perfect.
