Default 295.53: the kernel needs "acpi=off", thinkpad T420, nvs 4200M

Hi

I installed "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.53.run" for my Thinkpad T420, but it caused a problem that every time I boot the kernel it needed to pass the parameter "acpi=off", otherwise it would display nothing on the screen...

I have already disabled the Optimus mode and chosen the discrete graphics only in the BIOS.

my OS is scientific linux 6.2, and the discrete graphics will work normally if I close the ACPI. I wanna know the connection between the driver and the ACPI: How can the driver work if the ACPI is on?

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks and best regards.

Default Re: 295.53: the kernel needs "acpi=off", thinkpad T420, nvs 4200M

Hi, a new discovery.

If I boot the kernel with "maxcpus=0" to disable the SMP activation entirely, the whole system could run normally.

Hmmm.....This caused a new problem, there is only one cpu in use. and its temperature is about 64.0C, not a good news.
