$2199 is the starting price with a 2.3GHz quad-core chip, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash storage.

I know, right? I think Slawter forgets sometimes that not everybody brings in six figures a year.

I guess I misinterpreted your post. Did you expect it to be cheaper?
The hardware is insane, no doubt, but in my eyes it puts the 15" MBP above what I could pay for it. It's almost like Apple is putting the MBPs in more of a "pro" light, and the MBAs in normal consumers hands. Make sense?

I'm looking forward to iOS 6 no doubt! Glad they decided to support the iPhone 4.

EDIT: NM, they are still selling 15" MBPs starting at $1799. Good move Apple.

Too bad that the BTO adds at least 3 weeks to the shipping date
Must be nice lol. I'm just excited that I'll be getting a SSD for my late 2010 MBP later this year, probably a 256MB!

This is slightly creepy. I guess the next generation of MacBooks will remove the ability to upgrade RAM, then that will be all she wrote. I don't really like that since Apple rapes your wallet on upgrades. I'd rather buy them myself since it's way cheaper.

I'm waiting for articles on installing the iOS 6 beta.

Rather not wait till October

Curious to see what the 16GB and 768GB options will cost. And of course the Swiss pricing. Hopefully they're in-line with Apple's recent price cuts
That's a great price for the hardware.

Now we just need a towel to clean the slawter splooge off this thread.

I must say I was rather surprised. iOS6 looks to be pretty good. Glad they are supporting older devices. Do not disturb is something I've been missing since my old Nokia and my jailbreaks.

The Macbooks are a little pricey here. :: Still they are impressive specs for such a slim device. I'd consider one except I rarely use my laptop now. All my work is done on the iPad these days.

I agree, I'm looking forward to the DND feature. I've been trying to find a similar feature for when I go to bed at night and only want phone calls coming in, not all the Twitter, Text and Mail alerts.

I won't be buying another MBP for another 1.5-2 years (or unless my current MBP dies). But I hope by then, there will be a 15" MBA with excellent hardware. The only reason that I would want a MBP over an Air is discrete graphics and 15" screen.

I'm still excited about Mountain Lion. $20 for the upgrade, a good price for what it truly is.

Finally, I hear that iPhone 4 will NOT get turn by turn navigation. WTF?!

I have a dock that works as a DND function, but it doesn't do my iPad.

Shame iPhone 4 doesn't get turn by turn, but I'm looking to upgrade soon anyway, probably iPhone 5 when it's out.
