I'd go with the S3 if it were me. The 4s isn't even a competitor to it, that honor would go to the 5.

Games maybe, but anything else still feels the same. For some reason the 4s still lags when swiping over to the search screen.

The wife and I both had iPhone 4's and she upgraded to the 4s and feels like she spent $200 on siri, and when I play around with it I feel the same way.

Surprising in a way, but since Apple is a little late on the 4G action, VZW doesn't promote the iPhone 4S at all now lol. Makes sense.
