Default Trying to automate driver install for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

The setup is:
HP workstations of various models running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Client (Desktop/Workstation)

As a specific example, my desktop is running RHEL 5.8, x86_64 and has a Quadro NVS 290 card that can drive dual monitors.

I have NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.49.run sitting in a convenient location ( /usr/local/src/ ) and I need to run it whenever the kernel changes versions.

Is there a command I can run with/on the driver installer to see if it needs to be fully re-run ?

This command will install the driver for a new kernel version:

Code:
/path/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.49.run -K -k NEW_KERNEL_VERSION

If you run it on the current kernel version, does it do anything ?

You really should read the drivers manual:

Code:
/path/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.49.run -A | less
It's all explained there in details.
