Does the machine also have an Intel GPU?

lspci -nn | grep VGA

The bug report in post #1 as well as your output in post #3 show you have nvidiafb loaded. This of course won't work, so if the state of your machine is still the same, there's your problem. Blacklist nvidiafb. If it still doesn't work, post a new bug report.

FC14 works with nvidiafb, however I did try blacklisting nvidiafb (as can be seen in a previous post) to no avail - appreciate the suggestion though.

Not possible. nvidiafb and the proprietary driver are in conflict, it's impossible for them to not be.

So please do what I asked, post a new bug report now that nvidiafb is blacklisted.
