Okay, with 295.33 right now I have 3 x 1200*1600 (rotated left) screens. The KDE bar is at the bottom of the left-most screen. It is entirely configured as :0, and kwin wm is aware of 3 screens (can maximize to each, it doesn't place new windows across screen borders, etc.)
(Note that I'm using a 550Ti + 6200TC so I have to use x.org's xinerama, and don't get and 3D acceleration. That's all fine as this is a programming machine.) When I tried 304.37, first I had to add metamode lines to get rotation back. But the problem then was that the 2 left screens (on the 550Ti) got combined into a single large 2400x1600 screen (judging by the behavior of kwin, and the KDE panel started spanning the two left screens, placing windows right in the middle of the screen split, etc.) How do I configure 3 screens with 304 such that kwin/xinerama is aware of 3 screens like 295? I've attached my original and hacked xorg.conf files. Thanks! |

Perhaps in the Device1 section you want to remove the references to DFP-2 and the second MetaMode?

Sorry I solved this already by commenting out "ConnectedMonitor" and "UseDisplayDevice" in each Device section. Driver 304.37 doesn't seem to need those hints, or the CustomEDID either for the 6200TC card now.
update 1: This 304 driver seems to stutter a lot, which 295 doesn't do. The 3rd screen on the 6200TC is really choppy. The mouse cursor looks like 8 fps. Lol okay, moving the mouse on the left hand screens is 2% cpu usage, but the right screen (6200TC) is 55% x.org usage!!! (On a 3.6GHz quad core.) Hrm, it also messes up many of the fonts, how weird. Ah, comparing the log files, it calculated the DPI really weird (unsquare) complaining about 1600x900 oddly. Reverted the driver, oh well. update 2: Okay, easy enough to solve the DPI thing with Option DPI. The 3rd screen only performs badly when rotated with 304, and it affects the other two screens with momentary pauses. |
