Default Aliens: Colonial Marines

About Aliens: Colonial Marines:
Quote:
Buckle up, soldier! Welcome to Aliens: Colonial Marines. Created by Gearbox, the critically acclaimed and fan-favorite developers of Borderlands and Brothers In Arms, this first-person shooter is steeped in the eerie, claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere that made the Aliens films successful worldwide. You and your friends will become the most badass military outfit in the galaxy - the US Colonial Marines. It's down to you to not just survive but wipe out the Xeno infestation.

Enlist in the Marine Corps: Bringing you a true sequel to James Cameron's classic Aliens, get tooled up with classic Marine weapons including pulse rifles, motion trackers and flamethrowers.

The most authentic Aliens experience ever: Using authentic environments inspired by the film series including Hadley's Hope, the Sulaco and LV-426, you will be immersed in an eerie, atmospheric world where any moment could bring your death.

Drop-in / Drop-out co-operative gameplay: The masters of co-op bring their expertise to the Aliens universe. Xenos getting too tough? Call up your buddies so they can drop in with extra firepower. The whole campaign can be played with a squad of up to four players, dropping in and out as necessary through self-contained missions within an over-arching narrative. Additional multiplayer modes complete the Aliens video game experience.

Loadouts and upgrades: Create your perfect killing machine. An extensive upgrade system allows players to customize their characters to play the way they want. Earn experience to get perks, new weapons and new looks for your squad.
Story:
Quote:
Described as a true sequel to James Cameron's film, the story of Aliens: Colonial Marines takes place after the events of the second film, Aliens. At PAX East 2012, Gearbox Software's Community Manager confirmed that the game is considered an official part of the Alien franchise's canon by 20th Century Fox. Much of the main plot was written by Battlestar Galactica writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle. The story is told through the eyes of Corporal Christopher Winter, a Colonial Marine who is part of a search and rescue team sent to investigate the U.S.S. Sulaco in search of Ellen Ripley, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and the rest of the missing marines who were dispatched to LV-426. The Sulaco, and the derelict alien spacecraft from Alien as well as LV-426 itself will all serve as environments in the game, as well as other locations yet to be detailed.

Gearbox has stated that they were invited to speak with Ridley Scott and view the script for his Alien prequel Prometheus, insinuating that there may be connections or references to the events of Prometheus in Aliens: Colonial Marines.

I just hope it's well optimized for PC & not a poor console port.

I also hope there are advanced graphics options so we can change FOV etc.

I'd like to THINK that gearbox will do us right after seeing how well they optimized borderlands 2 for PC.

That said, this game is in the "wait and see" group for me. I haven't seen anything so far that would indicate that it's a 60 dollar title. Length of campaign and how well the story is fleshed out will play a big part of that. I have zero interest in multiplayer.

There is a lot of pandering to fanboys so far in terms of staying true to the lore but honestly, I don't care if they take some creative liberties with the story as long as they make it fun, scary as hell and make me actually fear every alien encounter like in the original AVP.

Apparently they have quite a few people who worked on/in the alien movies working on/in the game, Like voice acting, They actually have people from the movies voicing their character in game also people who designed the set for Aliens also helped out in re-creating the levels for the game.

There is a 2+ hour video on YouTube that's apparently played on PC with a 360 controller.

I just pre-installed too, Ive noticed its only 5.5GB. I really hope that its compressed or only part downloaded because if not its either a very small game or really low textures!
