Post Project SHIELD Takes to the Air at GTC

Project SHIELD can play PC games. It can play Android games. Oh, and did we mention it can fly?

We paired Project SHIELD with the Parrot's AR.Drone 2.0 at our annual GPU Technology Conference this week. And the results are simply amazing.

Parrot's AR.Drone is ' like Project SHIELD ' built to play in a world of open devices.

The quadrocopter can be controlled by any smartphone or tablet running Google's Android operating system. And, thanks to some amazing engineering, the AR.Drone can be flown by pretty much anyone.

Because Project SHIELD is a pure Android device, Parrot's engineers were able to help make the AR.Drone flyable using Project SHIELD in just a few days for a crowd-pleasing proof of concept.

The result is a fantastic flying experience, explains Patrick Beaulieu, an NVIDIAN who will be demonstrating the combo at GTC's exhibit hall.

Project SHIELD's console quality control sticks make the drone a pleasure to fly, Beaulieu says.

And by moving the controls for the device off the screen, viewers can see the unobstructed view from drone's high-definition camera reproduced on Project SHIELD's retina-quality 5-inch screen.

Parrot's app can even record photos and videos from the drone's camera onto Project SHIELD.

It's a demo that's already drawn crowds at NVIDIA ' and now we're ready to show it to everyone.

'Remind me, when's Christmas?' Patrick says with a smile as he guides the drone around the exhibit hall.
