700 series warning
There's no warning in the requirements for these cards but, as I found out the hard way, you can't just put these cards into any old PCI-E 3.0 slot.
With a limited time for gaming I haven't upgraded my system in a while. I've still been running my MSI board which was one of the first boards out with a PCI-E 3.0 slot. At first, it wouldn't boot at all. The system would just hang at B2. When trying to go into the bios, I would just get a blank screen.
Updating the bios to the newest version sort of fixed the problem. It takes awhile to get past B2 in the post but eventually Windows starts and everything works fine.
Put my 570 back in and the system boots in seconds.
New motherboard and CPU on the way, Haswell time.
