Or driver 5336...
I assume that works with 2.6.2. It worked with 2.6.2-rc1 anyway (they also fixed the annoying oops with newer AGP chipsets).

I'm using the 5536 with kernel 2.6.2 and it works perfectly so far. I had no problems with 2.6.1 either.

got big problems using kernel 2.6.2 and the 5336 driver.
after compiling the kernel i emerged the nvidia drivers. but when i start the x-server i got bad hungups which cause serious system damage. got to use ldconfig for setting the deps again and my XF86Config got some bogus char on beginning and end of file. (vim tells me that xserver works with the nv driver, but i want speed dmesg | grep nvidia reveals: Quote:
my xfreelog from the hungup: Quote:
but the nvidia module loads... hopefully some1 got a solution !! PS: my hardware: P4 1.6Ghz Abit MoBo I850 chipset (Rambus) GeForce 3 Ti 500 512MB RAM Audigy SB

The lack of version magic is a warning only, you see it because Gentoo's ebuilds don't use KBUILD. The driver should still be able to initialize just fine; do you have the character special files installed in /dev and the necessary privileges to access them? Also, are there any additional error messages in the output of dmesg after the startup failure?

Are you using AGPgart or NVIDIA's AGP support in the binary kernel module? Have you tried switching between the two to see if that has any affect?

I was using NvAGP. I'm recompiling to try using AGPgart now. What are you using? Also, would you be willing to e-mail a copy of your XF86Config to po@caltech.edu? That would be very helpful.
Thanks! Quote:
