GeForce2 go smears image on external mon

Running Dell Inspiron 8100 with Suse 8.2
LCD monitor works OK
Try to put video out to and external monitor but the image on the external is zoomed way in, smeared and I can only see a small part of the image on the monitor.

Don't know my video bios because there is no file /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0

A little more info I for got to put in initial post:
Processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 1000MHz
Driver version: I am not sure how to tell. I tried installing version 5336, but I am not sure if it took.

Finally able to upgrade to latest nvidia driver and that fixed the problem. Now the external 21" monitor looks great!!!
