Default 64 bit intel news post by mike c

ok ill just ask rather than flame

Quoted from the front page:
"You should have waited until 2006 because that is the time when 64-bit clients will be relevant."

thats not in the yahoo article. The rest is ok though

pull whats quoted there please, its opinion and as I said, that phrase is not in the yahoo article.

True the current market does not really need a 64 bit CPU for some time to come.

However all companies are afraid on missing the jump on the next big thing, that is precisely what is going on right now.

then shouldnt you disclaim that the aformentioned statement is the opinion of nvnews staff and not yahoo?

i might actually agree with your statement (yea, i know i have a 64 but since i do a lot of level design, when i heard the ut editor was getting a 64 bit bump i jumped on it. you have no idea how much memory you can eat up w/ a big ut level going w/ maya running in the background). But im just saying a little journalistic professionalism could be used here guys comon =p.

I fail to see why Mike's post is such a big deal? Never did Mike say the post contained any quote from Yahoo? He is just extrapolating what he thinks from the article. QUOTEs are always highlighted in blue if you take a look at other posts. Its not a big deal, its Mike's take on the article in which Intel seems to say 64 bits is not where it is at now! and according to Intel it will be 2006 before u see major benefits etc.

Personally I am gonna buy a athlon64....dun care for the 64 bits right now as the on-die memory controller is the main reason why I would like to go this route as it brings much performance benefits.

So I guess I will extrapolate from that article that Intel will not get a full fledged 64bit product out until 2006. Intel propaganda.
