Thanks for posting these links. Being new to Debian, and having
wrongly assumed that kernel building was more-or-less like on
RedHat, this is excellent info to have.

At the risk of straying off the topic of this forum, are there any
good books on Debian system admin and configuration? The
bookstore shelves positively groan under the weight of books
specific to RH, but I haven't seen much on Debian.
