Actually its this month of the "launch" not Aug
.The 9500 for a MSRP of onl $179 That will but some major pressure on nV and should if true replace the Ti4200 as the best bang for the buck. Consider that with in 2 weeks of the R9700 Pro launch you could buy a Pro for $330 I wonder if the 9500 will follow the same price trend. If so thats great for us to have a DX9 part at the main stream market. |

Actually if they specs are true (4 pipes and only 128 bit mem interface) then the 3 biggest cost factors have been removed from the total price which will greatly reduce the cost (4 pipe = smaller die, more parts per wafer, 128 bit = easier packaging and layout, 8/6 layer PCB vrs 10 layer PCB, ect). So I could see a something a bit under $200 as beening a good cost target.

enough talk about specs, let's hear performance numbers!
it should be interesting to see, at least. |

Really, IMO, the R300 performance is nothing revolutionary. You put 8 pipes on the GF4 Ti4600 and put a 256 bit memory bus while OCing the whole thing to 325Mhz and... tadam! Nearly as fast as the R300. I said nearly because after all, it's one generation after the GF4. It would be surprising if the transistor-to-performance ratio isn't better. Uttar |

Probably not the best one to link to though, as it cites nV News as the source.
