Default Twinview / Xawtv / Fullscreen / refreshrate

Hiya all !

I have some trouble with getting xawtv really fullscreen and not just a small square in the center of my screen surrounded by black.

(I have a nvidia 5600 FX vga/dvi)

I got twinview working fine and didn't notice any problem with applications except xawtv. Before i enabled twinview xawtv could work fullscreen (covering the whole screen), but after i enabled twinview it doesn't cover anymore the real full screen. I must say that i can play movies with mplayer/xine all real fullscreen on either monitor so somehow those work just fine. I use orientation RightOf which is how it should be for my setup to span.

I also have the v4l extention as always enabled in XF86Config-4, nothing changed to that file only the extra options for twinview.

So my question is, any one familiar with this problem ? Is this most likely a problem of xawtv (i read something about xawtv and writing directly to the videocard framebuffer and using 'overlay' (?)) or is the something i need to add in XF86Config-4 to make xawtv as before do a real fullscreen even if twinview is enabled ? Or is there some other tv app which uses a safe (?) method for writing to the videocard or so ?

And one more thing, if i want to lock my vertical refreshrate in XF86Config-4 then i can just write 60 without needing to write it like 50 - 75 ? (it's for tft's)

I appreciate all the input guys !

Well the refresh rate is set to the optimal 60 hz for my tft's so that's looking great !
Now i'm still looking how to get real fullscreen back with xawtv on at least the primary monitor.

PS: Below the Modules section of XF86Config-4:
(should be fine as it is, nothing changed beside enabling TwinView)
(both tft's are equal in size/refreshrates etc ....)
(things like dvd playing by mplayer/xine etc work fine, so only thing is xawtv doesn't cover the whole screen anymore, shows black borders)

If you use overlay mode, the max overlay window size is only 720x480
(BT 878 NTSC). Maybe you should try capture(grab) mode

I don't think you would like to see a TV window across two screens.

You may also try my fftv. It switch to overlay mode full screen by switching the resolution to 640x480. The 640x480 resolution is good enough for TV viewer.
There is no black border like xawtv in fullscreen. And it is more powerful and easier to use than xawtv.

Hmm, before i enabled twinview i was also using overlay mode and it was a real fullscreen on 1280x1024, i think because of the v4l module ... but now in this case, i'm looking for a solution where i can tell something to use the primary display to put the tv on it at 1280x1024 as it was before the Twinview situation.

I tried your tool, looks really promising but i couldn't compile it here because of some distro limitations.
