Default 1.0-5336 bad screen blanking

Hiya,
I'm having an issue with the 5336 nvidia drivers on my dell inspirion 8500 laptop with a geforce 4200go (2.6.1 and 2.6.3 kernel) where w/e my screen goes to turn off (xset dpms foce off for example) the screen turns bright white. This is bad because I need for the screen to blank/turn off properly for conserving power and keeping my screen from being damaged. Anyone know how to fix this, or is it just an issue that I'd have to deal with for now?
Thanks!

-HJ

I have the exact same problem, with the same hardware. Worked ok in 4620 I think, put then you'll have to patch it to work with 2.6.x

Default There is smtg in the kernel

In the kernel there is an option when you compile it ("In case your laptop does not go blank ok or smtg like that), try enabling that , it might work
