Question Big Problem with Nvidia Installer

Hi, i installed Suse Linux 9.0 on my computer.
i wanted to install my driver, but i have a big problem.
maybe i make something wrong.

i start a console under linux and typ in.

sh /home/xxnightshiftraverxx/Documents/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run

and than the nvidia installer starts and writes that on the screen

ERROR: You appear to be running an X server; please exit X before
installing. For further details, please see the section INSTALLING
THE NVIDIA DRIVER in the README available on the Linux driver
download page at www.nvidia.com.

ERROR: Installation has failed. Please see the file
'/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find
suggestions on fixing installation problems in the README available
on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com.

What does that means and what should i do!

PS: sorry for my bad english!

The README states that you have to exit X.
Starting a console doesn't cut it...
Press Ctrl+Alt+F1, login as root, enter 'init 3',
or 'killall -9 X', or '/etc/init.d/xdm stop', and
restart the installer...
