well, to tell u the truth, hl2's graphics aren't that mind blowing anymore. they'd better shove in a few extra shaders or some crap like that to make it look better.

Indeed, when I tried out Half Life 2's September 2003 beta build last year. Unlike Far Cry, Half Life 2 had restrictions in enviroment that I cant go explored anywhere I want. On the exactly locations when the levels loaded, the area look stunning but when I explored a bit further and discovered other areas that did not look modern, in fact it looked much the same in some location from Splinter Cell and unfinished areas looked poor in same quality as Half Life 1. In driving enviroment level, I am not very impressed with poor quality textures everywhere, it not very good as Far Cry.

In Far Cry's internal beta, 1st and 2nd official betas' graphics are mind blowing, it now surpassed Half Life 2 in terms of graphics quality. Valve better put more shaders, enviroments and more finish polishes to make Half Life 2 look alot better in time for September 2004 release. If it will not met the release schedule, then it will delay further again.

Oh really I did not realize there was a public Demo of HL2 where can I get it again? Sorry I find it pretty sad when people make claims after playing some leaked version of software that the developer had control off. It wont not have been soo bad had it been a complete leak. But there was lots of stuff missing...and people are making judements of stuff that was stolen from valve..

well, to tell you the truth, i personally was judging from the video's i've seen. the only really impressive one i saw was the one on the roof with the crazy alien. everything else is starting to get outdated, seeing how the people dont even have bumpmapping or anything...at least of what i've seen.

Heard the funky rumor that ATI will sue valve? Not very likely that'll happen huh?

Why would they do that ? They've already sold plenty of cards thanks to the HL2 vouchers anyway...

I remember looked back when Epic released first screenshots of Unreal 2, it looked very stunning and mind blowing and I was very excited and looked forward to played it. Then at the time when Unreal 2 tech demo leaked, I was very impressed with all map levels. But when Unreal 2 was relased 2 years later after the tech demo leaked, I was very surprised and very disappointed that many levels found in the tech demo are much the same in the retail version, it not mind blowing. For 2 years Epic changed or improved nothing compared to the tech demo and lots of people were very disappointed with Unreal 2 but I did found Unreal 2 very good game since Unreal 1.

If Valve wont changed or add more shaders in levels maps 1 year on, then most of the levels will look much the same as found in Splinter Cell and Half Life 1 so Half Life 2 will repeat the same mistake as Unreal 2 did.

Epic learnt the lesson about Unreal 2, they knew lots of people were very disappointed, Epic do not want to repeat the same mistake with next Unreal 3 engine. Unreal 3 will bring the current generation cards like 9800 Pro and 5950 Ultra on the knee at 640x480 when it release and it will take fully advantage of NV50. A year ago Epic shown the video of Unreal 3 tech demo behind closed door, I downloaded the leaked video and saw it, I was completed mind blowing at it, the graphics are far beyond with more advanced than anything I seen in any games, it has the quality somewhere near as Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within movie.
