Unhappy Unable to determine the NVIDIA kernel module file

I've tried to install NVIDIA driver 5336-IA32 on my system running recompiled linux kernel 2.6.0. I have no clues what this message means. Can anyone help?

Default Message context?

When does this message occur? After you've installed the libraries, during the install, or when X is booting?

Have you executed the 'depmod' command after the install? This will allow the module tools to find the module if its installed to the correct location (it probably is if the install finished).

Can you retrieve the whole message and post it, this would be much clearer. If it happens during the install look in the file: /var/log/nvidia-installer
If it happens any other time look in /var/log/messages and also /var/log/XFree86.0.log.

this message appears after accepting license in nvidia installer.

i've found on this forum a thread with similar discussion:

i've already sloved this problem - i think it helps just creating a symbolic link /usr/src/linux to your kernel source

Default Same error here

I've got the same error.

Just did an upgrade to Mandrake 10 with the stock 2.6.3 kernel.

The installer can't find any pre-compiled driver and then exists
with the error.

kernel src is installed en /usr/src/linux link is available.

I was able to do a manual compile, but then that process also ends
with an error: "Can't find nvidia module"

I re-installed the kernel source, compiled it, installed it and rebooted.

Then I re-tried the installer en it worked...
