Default System temporarily locks up with 3D apps

I have had nVidia based cards for some time now. Recently I upgraded my system with a Ti4600 based card and also to the 2.6.X kernel (currently running 2.6.4). When playing 3D games,I have been getting temporary lock-ups that last 10 to 15 seconds then my system usually goes back to normal, but sometimes the game will crash.

A google search found a lot of people suffering from this problem, and most are saying it is an nVidia driver problem. Is this true, and if so, it is currently being resolved?

Thanks,
Ken

Kind of glad to see that I'm not alone. I have the exact same problem, nothing I've tried yet has been able to fix it. Out of curiosity, what games are you playing? What kind of motherboard and processor?

Here's my post with a description of my problem. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...threadid=25583

It might be informative to read the huge pci_badness thread too:

If you figure anything out, let us know!
