Angry Disgustingly fustrated! please help!

hi guys!

just a couple of days ago Norton Internet Securities totally messed up my system, i uninstalled it but the problems continued, so...instead of repairing windows xp (i'm soooo stupid!!) i decided to reformat C: and reinstall windows again. i got everything up and running, up to date drivers for everything and when i go to play my games i notice a atleast a 15% - 20% drop in framerate for every game!! i have the same settings as before (i usually run games at 1024x740 mode). the games are still playable but it's annoying because it's choppy and lagging sometimes. it use to be soooo smooth. does anyone know what i can do? something i missed when reinstalling?

my system AMD 64 Athlon 3000+ , 512MB PC400 RAM, 256MB GeforceFX5600 (Forceware55.56), Gigabyte K8VT800Pro Mobo with the newest bios F5 ver.
Windows XP

i barely have anything installed on this computer, just windows and some games.

thanks guys ! any help would be greatly appreciated and i will lose less sleep over it. cheers!

is mobo chipset driver the same as bios??

if it is , then yes i do. i have the lastest version of the bios flashed.

i installed 3 different video card drivers as well. same problem....choppy and slow gameplay. it was very smooth before. i estimate maybe a 20-30% drop in frame rate. i run all games with no AA or AF at 1024x740.

i relee don't know what to do...i'm getting such a big headache..\

please someone..tell me i missed something??

Good thing you fixed it! Via motherboards always need the lastest drivers to function properly.
In cases like these, you should also test your CPU performance, to check if it's only a video issue or an entire system issue.

BTW, Windows Operating Systems!

are you sure you changed back to your original settings? Try installing the latest drivers like they said, but when your in the display opens go to advanced > and put your refresh rate as high as it will go.
