Default You are trying to load a module without a GPL compatible license

This is the message I get when I try and load the nvidia module:

[root@linux root]# modprobe nvidia
/lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.o: unresolved symbol smp_call_function
/lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.o: unresolved symbol smp_num_cpus
Hint: You are trying to load a module without a GPL compatible license
and it has unresolved symbols. Contact the module supplier for
assistance, only they can help you.

/lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20-30.9/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.o: insmod nvidia failed

Release: RH9
Driver: NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1
Card: FX 5200

I have attached my XF86Config and Installl log...

File Type: txt XF86Config.txt (3.2 KB, 105 views)

Default Re: You are trying to load a module without a GPL compatible license

do you have a smp-system?
If not, compile a system without smp-support, look that the symlinks are correct and reinstall the nvidia-drivers.

The warning about the gpl is harmless. It only says, that you are loading a modul without gpl into the kernel. And that is correct. The nvidia-modul is not under the GPL. The Warning is normal. Everybody get that.
But the smp-warnings.. they are a problem.
