Default PnP OS on or off for Windows 2000?

Should I have PnP OS on or off in the BIOS for Windows 2000?

Actually, Off

It has to be off for anything past Win9x (95/98/Me).

Win2000 and higher (XP, 2003) overrides the BIOS though ACPI anyway. So enabling this feature always brings more troubles than anything else.

Agreed. I have always liked it OFF, no matter the OS. If the OS cannot handle IRQs and anything else assignments, let's the bios do it for you. I remember when i had an ISA SB16 card. IRQ and DMA assignments would be unproperly set if pnp aware os was ON. If the OS already bypasses bios completely and uses ACPI, who cares about pnp aware OS?

I don't think it matters much. I've left it set to ON and let 2K/XP handle the interrupt assignments/sharing for a long time now with no discernable issues.
