Hi there,
Since some of the softwares I run need OpenGL support, and since my graphics card was a NVIDIA product, I installed the new driver (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1) first and then a little older driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg0). Installation was correct except that it couldnt find a precompiled kernel or something like that (I am a LINUX newbie, so please excuse my wording), but it worked fine. When I started the x-window, it started fine but after a few minutes hung up and I couldnt do anything other than restart the entire system. Only the mouse can be moved but everything else is frozen. I restarted the system around 5 times and each times I faced the same problem after logging into the x-window. I would appreciate your advise as to how to get around this. Best regards, Kar |

I too have experienced this problem when I upgraded my drivers to 5336 at the advice of tunderbird but then my system locks up soon after starting X. I went back to the older version (see my post: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=27073 ) where I was only having problems playing video. Does any one have any suggestions? Be specific as I (and pkar) am fairly new to linux.
Thanks |
