Switching to terminal and back lasts minutes
I run a PIV with Fedora Core 1. XFRee 4.3.0 and Geforce FX 5200.
I use NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run (At least I think so...)
When I start X the nvidia splash screen stays very very long!
When I switch to the terminal (Ctrl-Alt-F1) it lasts very very long and when I switch back to X it lasts again aeons.
I found these lines in /var/log/XFree86.0.log:
compiled for 4.3.0, module version = 1.0.2
Module class: XFree86 Font Renderer
ABI class: XFree86 Font Renderer, version 0.4
(II) Loading font Type1
(II) Loading font CID
(II) LoadModule: "nvidia"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.o
(II) Module nvidia: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"
compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.5336
Module class: XFree86 Video Driver
So, why is there a nvidia_module, that is compiled for 4.0.2? Might this cause the problem?
Please help, since when I want to shut down my computer an log off from X, it lasts so many minutes...

Re: Switching to terminal and back lasts minutes
Those messages are in fact common to all installs, they pertain to the part of the driver that nVIDIA compiles / modifies and distributes to you in binary form, meaning you cannot recompile to more accurately specify the target (for that particular message).
Now, for what might be the issue instead.. please post the XF86Config file you are using, as well as a logfile from an attempted start of X using this commandline:
startx -- -logverbose 5
Include your current kernel version (uname -r).
Also, here is a previous post with the installation procedure for FC1. Being built on the 2.4 kernel the compiler version should be 3.2.
