Nvidia drivers as static in the kernel ?
What if I want to have the nvidia drivers compiled as static in the kernel ?
For instance if I don't want to use modules ?
Is this possible ?
Since I use a laptop and will always have the same graphic card, I'd like to have it in static. I recompile my kernel almost everyday this month, because I want to install this or this feature and each time after I do make modules_install, the nvidia driver disappear, so each time I have to uninstall it, and then reinstall it.

Re: Nvidia drivers as static in the kernel ?
Why not just copy the nvidia.o[.gz] from your modules directory
and then everytime you do a modules_install copy it back again?
cp /lib/modules/2.4.24/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.o /tmp/
cp /tmp/nvidia.o /lib/modules/2.4.24/kernel/drivers/video/
