Hmmm, strange. After downloading the 2.6.5 kernel sources from www.kernel.org, I also downloaded the available x86_64 patch files rc1, rc2 and rc3. It appeared to me that the kernel sources already included the changes of rc1 and rc2, so only rc3 added/changed things.
I apologize for not being very specific, my kernel is 2.6.5-rc3.
