Default Fedora Core2 Test2 driver probelms

when i try and use the nvidia drivers, X just freezes. why is it doing this?

there is a setting in the current 2.6 kernel which fedora core 2 test 2 uses. this setting breaks binary compatibility. easiest way to get the nvidia drivers to work is to compile a custom kernel. its a test release remember so there is stuff like this you will have to deal with,

Recompile with the config option CONFIG_4KSTACKS disabled.

Note that this option is not available in current FC2T2 kernels, and will not be in 2.6.6 and beyond mainline kernels according to plans. NVidia needs to fix their driver to accommodate, or better yet, open source it!

That is correct, all FC2 rawhide kernels more recent than 2.6.4-1.305 (correct me please if any newer kernel is known to work) has the nostack patch merged and will not (without modification of the patches applied) work with the driver. Until the patch is in mainline the kernel MAY be tweakable to work by not applying and/or reversing patches present in the Fedora rawhide kernels.
