Newbie, trying to update drivers
Ok, I think I have a few questions here. I'm pretty much a linux newbie so if anyone has any links for places to go to learn this stuff that would be great.
I have a Dell Latitude D800, with a GeForce4 4200 Go video card.
I need to either install RedHat 7.3 or 8.0 and get these to work with the video card. I currently have 9.0 installed but the program I am trying to run breaks in 9.0 so I need an older version.
If I installed 7.3 would I then have to update the kernel to get the current video drivers to work on it? The biggest concern is that I don't want to go back and forth reinstalling 7.3 and 8.0 to try to get everything to work. Also I'm hoping that upgrading the kernel doesn't make the program break again. So i think my current plan is to install 7.3 (I know the program works on that) and update the kernel (if needed), then install the video card drivers. Does this sounds like the correct way to do this? Also where would I find the kernel upgadre for 7.3? I found a couple sites but none of them are working anymore.
Also any advice on upgrading the kernel and drivers would be appreciated.
Thanks for any help (I know I need as much as possible)
