That is strange. I'm running a K7S6A (SiS 745 chipset for the Athlon) and it detected AGP just fine. They aren't the same, however, but they shouldn't be all that different.
You might want to double check your BIOS settings and make absolutely sure you have AGP 4X enabled, as well as SBA (Side band adressing) and fast writes.

Is X running when you're doing these cat commands?
Do you have Option "NvAgp" "0" set in your config file, which will disable AGP?

Yes, X is running. Sorry for the LONNNGGG post but I have no place to store files currently online...

And yes, I went back into my BIOS and doubled checked the AGP settings.

What are the few lines right before "failed to verify AGP usage"?
I suppose the problem could be the "Host Bridge: SiS (unknown)" bit...

Yup i get the same thing too October
"Failed to verify AGP usage" also i get AGP Status: Disabled although when do "cat agp/host-bridge" it tells me i am running a Via MVP3 chipset. I hope this AGP status isn't coming from the BIOS because my BIOS doesn't say anything about "Enabling" AGP. I'm assuming this is what is keeping my X server from starting with the nvidia driver. Damn everything -rian |

Try my solution here:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...&threadid=2734 It will work, now I have AGP 4x enabled, as well as FW and SBA. |

That DOES work! Thanks!!
But now how would a n00b like me go about making this a default action at boot? Is there a relatively easy way? |

Open up /etc/modules.conf in an editor, and add a line to it:
options agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1 Save and exit, and re-run /sbin/depmod -a (you'll probably have to be root to do all of this).
