Question FX-5700, DVI 1600x1200: column of red pixels problem

Hi all,

I am trying to use a Club GeForce FX-5700 card to drive a DELL 2100FP LCD monitor in 1600x1200 DVI mode.

This is successful to the extent that I do get a working screen, which, however, is consistently disfigured by a full column of red pixels at the very left of the display. Sometimes it's a solid line of red, sometimes it's a line with 'noise' pixels. Sometimes some of the image in the rest of the screen will briefly start to 'swim' before becoming static again.

I am using the latest nvidia driver (1.0-5336).

If I control the monitor via analog cable instead of DVI, the problem doesn't happen. If I set the monitor to 1280x1024 DVI mode, it doesn't happen either.

If I disable AGP altogether, the problem still happens. Even switching between 2.6.6 and 2.4.26 Linux kernels makes absolutely no difference! The thin red line persists.

I am all out of ideas now. I am attaching my XF86Config-4 and my XFree86.0.log file -- if anybody has any suggestions or solutions, I would be intensely grateful.

Many thanks in advance,
