New Driver for Nforce2 Chipset??

Hi all,

Why Nvidia Developer doesn't release the new update driver of nforce2 chipset?? I wish nvidia developer release the new update this driver that support kernel 2.6.x. because until now i still doubt to use the new kernel 2.6.x. I still use SuSE 9.0 and Mandrake 9.1 that use kernel 2.4.21.
Maybe some body can tell me that kernel 2.6.x support the chipset nforce2 or not??
I have motherboard AsusA7N8X-X.

Yes the 2.6 kernel supports nforce2, you will not need any drivers from Nvidia if you use this kernel.

Doesn't later 2.4 kernels support nforce2 as well? 2.6 support for it is very good anyway, so go ahead and try it.

Yes the ide and AGPGART is supported in later 2.4 kernels but not forcedeth (lan driver) nor alsa for the sound althou you can use OSS in 2.4 which is pretty much same deal as nvaudio except it does not support SPDIF afaik.

The only thing you really need to watch out for is the apci bug. There is a fix in the 2.6.6 kernel but if you use anything before that you will have to pass noapic (yes, that is right, noapic not noacpi) to the kernel.
