Default Dual monitor setup: BusID problem

on redhat 9.0, I'm using a Dell with a NVidia NV186GL (Quadro 4). I installed the nvidia drivers (replaced nv with nvidia in my XF86config) . lspci says that my bus id is 01:00.0. Put this in my XF86Config, and I get
"No matching Device section for instance: No Devices detected" error

any help would be appreciated

I'm not fully sure if you are fully using Nvidia's drivers. Some of the messages from the log file look like you are still using the "nv" driver. The nvidia driver outputs lines starting with NVIDIA(0) instead of NV(0) of the nv driver, further the nvidia driver spits out info that that nv driver doesn't output like agp info. Really make sure you use the nvidia drivers and further remove the line Option "Twinview" "Enable" as that line isn't needed for the type of "twinview" you want.

What if you just remove the busid option?

works, but I dont get the dual displays. I thought the busid needs to be specified in order to get dual displays?

After another look at your Config file I might have seen the problem. You wrote the BusId option like this: "PCI:01.00.0"

While it should look like this: "PCI:1:0:0" (most important difference : instead of .)

I get the same error

(WW) NVIDIA: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:0) found
[ ... ]
(EE) Screen 0 deleted because of no matching config section.

followed by a bunch of unresolved symbol errors, with this Device section:

Section "Device"
Identifier "nvidia-tv"
VendorName "Unknown"
BoardName "Unknown"
Driver "nvidia"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Screen 1

option "NvAGP" "1" #"4"
option "DPMS" "on"
option "NoLogo" "on"
option "TVStandard" "NTSC-M"
option "TVOutFormat" "SVIDEO"
option "ConnectedMonitor" "TV"
option "NoDDC" "True"
EndSection

The BusID statement is -IN- the device section, so i don't understand why the hell the driver complains about a missing device section.
