Default Mandrake 10 video/DVD playback problems

Heya. I've recently migrated to Linux, and while I'm decently computer literate, I've never worked on Linux before, so I'm not sure what to do. I've got a fresh install of Mandrake 10, kernel version 2.6.3 (the original, I didn't mess with it at all), installed 5336, it boots, everything seems to have installed fine. My hardware is an Athlon XP 1800+ (not overclocked), ASUS A7V333, 512 RAM, and an MSI GeForce4 Ti4400.

My problem is, if I go to play a DVD, or any other video in, say, KDE's Totem, or any other player, it is missing all red color. It was missing it before I installed 5336, and it's still missing it. I have no idea what to do, help.

Thanks.

Update:

After I changed some minor unrelated settings (network card), X stopped booting with error "no screens found". I changed the driver to "nv" in XF86Config and now it boots, though the problem above still persists. I have no idea what I did to make 5336 work with 2.6.3, but it didn't last very long.

I had exactly the same problem after installing Mandrake 10.0 on my computer (Compaq Presario).

I don't know the reason. But, to make my DVD player work, I have uninstalled "Totem", and I have installed "Xine" instead with rpmdrake.

And, with "Xine", my DVD player works perfectly. So, I suspect that there is a bad configuration file in "Totem". But I'm not sure.

Note: "Xine" doesn't allow to see encripted DVD (I suppose that this is the same for Totem). If you want to see such DVD, you have to dowload the library "libdvdcss".
